June 17, 2013 - PRLog -- The veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan have given the ultimate sacrifice to serve our country with many facing harsh conditions on the battlefield and returning with injuries and illnesses.  One of the ailments that some veterans face that is often overlooked is poor dental health.  Veterans can suffer from a range of dental problems such as dry mouth or xerostomia that is brought on by spotty oral hygiene and overconsumption of sugary drinks in combat.  Plano dentist (http://www.davidwilhitedds.com/) David Wilhite DDS is offering free dental care to veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan to treat their oral health problems.

Even though many veterans face dental health issues as a result of their service, dental care is rarely covered by the VA.  In order for the VA to cover dental care expenses, the veteran must also be considered 100 percent disabled.  Many of the veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan that need dental care are not considered 100 percent disabled which makes it difficult for them to get dental care coverage.  However, many veterans have been able to find help through an organization called Rebuilding America’s Warriors, or RAW.  RAW was founded to provide coverage for plastic surgery for disfigured vets and has expanded to provide coverage for dental care.

Through RAW, Dr. David Wilhite is able to provide free dental health care to veterans who suffer from dental problems related to their terms of service.  Dr. Wilhite offers a range of cosmetic dentistry (http://www.davidwilhitedds.com/dental-services/cosmetic-d...) services at his Plano, Texas office that include dental implants and mouth restorations to repair the mouths of veterans who have lost teeth as a result of their poor oral health.  Veterans such as Matthew Blits, who lost most of his top teeth and has suffered through great pain, are receiving the care they desperately need from Dr. Wilhite through the RAW organization.

Since they have expanded to include dental care in their coverage, RAW has reached out to Texas dentists to provide care and Dr. Wilhite (http://www.davidwilhitedds.com/uncategorized/dr-wilhite-o...) and his wife Nancy have become proud contributors.  “I look to our returning servicemen to help them out,” says Dr. Wilhite, “and to compensate them for their contribution to society.”
