By: HNBA-LEF The program, designed to introduce Hispanic high school students to the U.S. legal system and increase diversity in the profession, will take place June 23-30, 2013 in Los Angeles, California. “LEAP was developed to ensure Hispanic youth of diverse backgrounds obtain the skills and tools necessary to achieve academic success, realize their potential, and become tomorrow’s legal and business leaders,” said Omar Vargas, president of the The Hispanic National Bar Association Legal Education Fund. “This program is unprecedented in its scope, depth, and partnerships with universities, law firms, and corporations.” In partnership with Pepperdine University and Southwestern Law School, the upcoming session will allow students to attend law school classes and lectures; participate in a mock trial competition; Program sponsors include PepsiCo; Womble Carlyle Sandridge & Rice LLP; Lowenstein Sandler LLP; Schwabe, Williamson & Wyatt; Law Offices of Giancarlo Recinos; and Benny Agosto, Jr. Their generous contributions will allow The Hispanic National Bar Association Legal Education Fund to cover all related expenses for this year’s twenty-two participants. The LEAP summer education opportunity will be held annually and rotate among various metropolitan areas across the United States.
