MILWAUKEE - June 13, 2013 - PRLog -- How does a race of people deal with genocide on a massive scale? Contradictions is a powerful novel that recounts how one Jewish woman comes to terms with her religious and cultural roots, and a past that includes the Holocaust.

The prologue begins on Nov. 9, 1938 in Berlin, Germany, on the afternoon before Kristallnacht, the Night of Broken Glass, which is the date foretelling the violence on the horizon for Europe’s Jews. In 1980, the daughter of a Holocaust survivor is just beginning her academic career. Rachel has been hired as the first female assistant professor of American history at a prominent East Coast university. Her mentor is Eric, a sociology professor. As her personal relationship with Eric grows, Rachel begins to come to terms with her heritage.

The recounting of a brutal rape serves as a metaphor to the Holocaust and its continued impact on Jewish life. Is history being rewritten to make it more palatable and how much should the role of the past color our character?
