Analysts Agree: Pharmaceutical Drug Sales Will Continue to Grow Worldwide

The global drug market grew 5 to 7 percent in 2012, which has once again increased the need for CNPR trained Pharmaceutical Sales Representatives. The United States will remain the single largest market, with 3 to 5 percent growth in 2013.

WASHINGTON - June 13, 2013 - PRLog -- IMS, which tracks prescriptions and forecasts data for the drug industry, predicted that the United States will remain the single largest pharmaceutical market, with 3 to 5 percent growth expected next year, . Pharmaceutical sales in this country will reach $320 billion to $330 billion, up from a $310 billion forecast for this year, the report said.

Even so, he predicted modest growth in drug spending in the United States in 2013 as the industry shifted toward newer specialty products.

The report said five potential new blockbusters — defined as products with more than $1 billion in sales — are now arriving in the market.
