Monster Truck Action Returns to Carlisle with Four Trucks in 2013

CARLISLE, Pa. - June 17, 2013 - PRLog -- Trucks that haul, trucks that destroy, trucks that get dirty, trucks that are customized - that is a good way to summarize the types of trucks available for display at the 2013 Carlisle Truck Nationals.  This year's event, held August 2-4 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds, features trucks of all sizes, styles and manufacture.  What draws people to this event?  That answer could vary, but one answer that is common:  Monster Trucks!  That's right, the car crushing thrills that come with the Carlisle Truck Nationals monster truck program return in 2013 with two competition trucks, plus some friends that also will contribute nicely to the weekend.  Along with the trucks comes the VIP Monster Pack, a combo pack that affords families the chance to snag a reserved seat, collectible hat, concessions voucher and more.

First, some very reliable and well-known machines will thrill enthusiasts of all ages.  The machines, the Virginia Giant ride truck and Megasauras, won't be in competition but will provide the thrill of a lifetime in their own unique way.  Virginia Giant and Megasauras are differently unique with one specially designed to entertain the entire family by giving them a ride and the other built for ultimate destruction.  The ride truck has an elongated bed with seats and access steps installed to haul young and old alike around the grounds.  As Megasauras goes, it isn’t really a truck; it’s more like a machine.  Back by popular demand, enthusiasts of all ages will enjoy this fire-breathing, car-eating monster.

The trucks locked in for competition this year are first-timers to Carlisle and include Stone Crusher and Hooked.  Both trucks are Virginia based and are operated by a father/son combination.  Stone Crusher and driver Steve Sims got their respective starts after a 2005 business encounter with Dennis Anderson of Grave Digger fame.  Since then, Sims and his truck have been a main stay on the truck circuit, including success on the Monster Jam tour.  Since '05, Sims has become one of the elite drivers in the monster truck industry, competing regularly on the biggest stages in the sport.  In 2010, he was invited for the third straight year to compete in the Monster Jam World Finals in Las Vegas, thrilling fans with a fourth-place finish in freestyle.  Strong performances like this brought Sims’ team, Monster Trucks Unlimited, back-to-back Monster Jam Team of the Year awards in 2008 and 2009 at the Monster Jam awards banquet in Las Vegas, solidifying their status as one of the top teams in the sport.

Sims son, Steve Jr. also drives and will be behind the wheel of Hooked.  This truck and driver got together for the first time in May of 2012 and has been wreaking havoc on the circuit ever since.  A member of the Monster Jam tour in 2013, Hooked and Sims have also taken part in the Young Guns Challenge as part of the Monster Jam World Finals in Las Vegas. Hooked is guaranteed to showcase big air, a wheelie or two and invoke maximum destruction on everything in its way at Carlisle.  Best of all, based on photos and video seen online of Hooked, this truck isn't afraid of much, if anything at all.
