US Europe Spain Debt Crisis Blow to Indian Tourism

SHAHDRA, India - June 12, 2013 - PRLog -- There is an expectation, if we take into consideration the current debt crises in US and Europe, that it may impact the Indian Tourism industry in negative terms. Indeed, the ongoing crises could impact negatively the inbound tourism in the Indian context. In usual phenomena, foreign tourists visit India during the autumn and winter seasons. However, in wake of S&P downgrading the US's credit rating, it will impact the tourism in negative terms. Hence, it is inevitable that business travel is likely to be affected in negative terms. Moreover, in wake of global uncertainties, it is bound to escalate further in negative terms especially for the Indian Tourism.

In the current scenario, there have been instances when inbound tourists are less preferred against the domestic tourists. Taking into consideration the year 2010, there are 55.83 lakh foreign tourists who visited India on a growth of 8.1 per cent compared to 2009. Worrisome part is the foreign tourist arrivals (FTAs) plunging down taking into consideration the data of January-July, 2011 at 34.17 lakh compared to 30.85 lakh in the same period of 2010.
