New Information Hub For Popular Festival

With tickets now on sale for the 2013 St Ives September Festival, sponsored by Cornish Gems, the luxury holiday specialist’s unique hybrid office in St Ives has become a “hub” of activity.

June 12, 2013 - PRLog -- With first class music, theatre and comedy acts confirmed, there is a great deal of news to spread, so Cornish Gems’ coffee shop and holiday letting service at the bottom of Tregenna Hill has agreed to help in a variety of ways.

Alan Shepherd, Chairman of the St Ives September Festival, explains:

“We have many new ideas to ensure that the 2013 St Ives September Festival, sponsored by Cornish Gems, will be the biggest and best that the town has ever seen.  Cornish Gems have kindly agreed for their St Ives office to become our ‘Information Hub’, where visitors and locals will be informed about performances in a variety of ways – from leaflets to TV screens displaying a daily “what’s on”.  With Cornish Gems’ help we will be able to orchestrate merchandise giveaways, special promotions and competitions from the Festival.  The Coffee Lounge will even be hosting signings for us, VIP parties and acting as a ‘hang out’ for band members.”

Julianne Shelton, Founder and Managing Co-Director of Cornish Gems, is delighted to be utilising her new premises in this way commenting:

“I am pleased that our new St Ives office is so integral in supporting the town already. As headline sponsors of the 2013 St Ives September Festival, we want to help the committee to build the event, bringing more visitors to the town, whilst engaging higher numbers of people who live here. Our ‘Information Hub’ will bring a real buzz and focal point to the Festival over the coming months, as we help spread the word about the range of performances that the Festival has to offer.”

The St Ives September Festival, which runs from September 14 to 28, has been in operation for 35 years and last year featured over 300 events – with this year set to break that record.

A celebration of music and the arts, there will be free entertainment as well as ticketed events, throughout the days and nights, so a fantastic day out or evening’s entertainment for everyone.

Booked gigs include Fairport Convention, Chastity Brown, The Manfreds, Emily Barker, and John Cooper Clarke – ensuring that this year will be a diverse and eclectic mix of music from around the world.

Other performances include comedy from Johnny Cowling and theatre from Miracle Theatre Company with their version of Samuel Beckett’s ‘Waiting for Godot’, leading up to the festival’s electrifying finale on Saturday September 28 featuring Livewire AC/DC and The ZZ Tops.

Performances will take place in a range of venues around this popular Cornish town, ranging from ticket only entrance at The Guildhall with a capacity of 500 people and The St Ives Theatre which seats 320, through to smaller free music events in pubs and clubs.

Another aspect of the Festival is the highly anticipated Film Season, featuring showings of classic films - this year with a ‘Monster’ theme, to include screenings of ‘Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde’, ‘An American Werewolf in London’, ‘Nosferatu’, ‘The Mist’ and the 1931 film ‘Frankenstein’ - all taking place at St Ives Arts Club.

The Festival also includes art exhibitions, walks and tours of the area and various workshops as well as Open Studios, where local artists open their workspaces to the public in order to feature their work in art, ceramics, textiles and glass; there will also be an art exhibition in the famous St Ives School of Painting and ceramic pit firing on Porthmeor Beach.
