SAN JOSE, Calif. - June 12, 2013 - PRLog -- You must have learned European or American flower arrangements and now engage in floral designs for hobby or business. You have been working on flower arrangements for a long period of time. When you earned a skill of floral designs, you must have been very enthusiastic and enjoying floral decorations in your daily life.

Recently however you feel a little bit bored with your designs and want to challenge something new OR you would like to earn more creative or unique style of floral arrangements which you cannot find on your European or American style of flower arranging.

If you feel like this, we can help you earn a skill with which you are able to change your style of floral designing whereby you feel fresh and excited. If you have never learned or worked on Japanese traditional floral art called Ikebana which has a long history, we can recommend you to try it. You may find a new atmosphere with Ikebana arrangements of which method and way of design is somewhat different.

People who already have a decent skill of European (or American) flower arrangements will usually have less difficulties when learning Ikebana arrangements. Since Ikebana uses another kind of devices for arrangement, the way designing is a little bit different. Namely Ikebana arrangement uses "Kenzan" instead of "Oasis" (floral foam) to support flowers in a container. Kenzan is made of heavy metal on which uncountable number of needles are mounted. Flower stems are inserted onto these needles.

European or American arrangement usually uses floral foam ("Oasis") to hold flowers. This is much easier to use. When it comes to a container, Ikebana uses what is called "Suiban" which is a shallow type of container and different from regular vase.

Not only the devices mentioned above but also elements of arrangements are different in the case of Ikebana. Namely Ikebana often features greeneries such as ferns. Ikebana also features thin and long twigs/branches such as curly willow or grape vine to create graceful beauty of linear curve. Such materials are neither flowers nor leaves and they are not fresh elements. This cannot be found in European (or American) floral arrangements.

By learning Japanese Ikebana arrangements, you can blend European floral designs and Japanese traditional floral art, which will make very creative floral decorations. As a matter of fact, some of European (or American) floral designers adopt Japanese way of arrangement to make a difference in their flower arrangements.
