Infiniti Plans to Expand Crossover Offerings in the Near Future

June 11, 2013 - PRLog -- The team at Infiniti of Hoffman Estates (http://www.infinitihoffman.com/index.htm) was pleased to learn that Johan de Nysschen, President of Infiniti, recently revealed that part of the company’s plan to boost sales to over 500,000 vehicles yearly by 2016 will include new crossover models. The Infiniti chief also confirmed that a new hybrid sports car is also on the way. While it’s unclear where the new crossovers will fit in, the two current five-seat crossover offerings from Infiniti, the EX and FX, are nearing the end of their current generations, and could be updated or replaced completely.

The current generation of the Infiniti JX was just released last year, so that will likely continue on unchanged, and the Infiniti QX80 is the brand’s only full-sized SUV, so it will likely continue in some form. Interest in compact and midsize crossovers has increased dramatically in recent years, and many drivers see the appeal of having the increased cargo space that an SUV offers with the drivability and efficiency of a smaller vehicle. Regardless of the form that Infiniti’s coming crossover vehicles take, they will surely boast the impressive performance and luxury for which Infiniti vehicles have long been known.

Johann de Nysschen also mentioned that Infiniti would be creating a new halo car possibly based on the Emerg-E concept vehicle. It would probably use a hybrid powertrain to make 500+ hp while burning significantly less fuel than other similarly powered vehicles.

No absolute details have been released with regard to the upcoming vehicles, but with Infiniti planning to increase production as much as threefold over the next three years, the new models can’t be too far away.
