Follow on Google News | Balloon Crashes in Colorado Injure ManyFour hot air balloons crashed in Colorado on Saturday that left ten people injured.
According to the National Weather Service, winds were moving about 20 to 30 miles per hour, with gusts of up to 35 miles per hour. There was one balloon that had ten passengers that crashed in the Rocky Flats National Wildlife Refuge. Five of those passengers were injured, but nothing life-threatening. One had endured a fairly significant ankle injury. Another balloon that carried 11 passengers and a pilot hit the ground hard in another wildlife conservation area of Boulder County. Two of those passengers were taken to the hospital with neck and back injuries. The third balloon crashed in Arvada. The pilot was rushed to the hospital with non life-threatening injuries, but still somewhat serious. Two of his passengers were also injured, but treated at the scene. The final balloon that crashed went down near Louisville, but all of its inhabitants walked away without injury. According to the pilots questioned after the accidents, the weather was clear in the morning at take off, but the winds changed after they were already in the air. Fortunately, each of these balloons was able to land without severely harming anyone. Though the conditions are not specifically known at this time of those hospitalized, they are expected to make full recoveries. Though this series of accidents seems crazy and unlikely, it happened because of things that were out of the drivers’ control.
