Cafe Japengo Wins Gold Medallion Award for San Diego's Best Sushi

 
SAN DIEGO - June 10, 2013 - PRLog -- Cafe Japengo was awarded a Gold Medallion Award for “Best Sushi” by the San Diego Chapter of the California Restaurant Association (CRA).

The California Restaurant Association’s Gold Medallion Awards recognize local restaurateurs and associates who have distinguished themselves within the industry through superior business practices, demonstrated leadership, and continue to influence the restaurant community and hospitality industry as a whole.

“We are honored to be recognized by the California Restaurant Association for this prestigious award,” said Monia Tonazzo, general manager of Cafe Japengo. “And we are so lucky to have our Executive Sushi Chef, Jerry Warner, who has been creating excellent sushi for Cafe Japengo since we opened 23 years ago."  

The celebrated restaurant featuring trendsetting Pacific Rim cuisine and sushi, recently introduced a new sustainable menu featuring locally sourced and sustainable produce, meat and seafood.  Cafe Japengo sources as many ingredients as possible from local farms including produce from Suzie’s Farm, chicken from Rosie’s Organic, goat cheese from Drake Family Farms, (http://www.drakefamilyfarms.com/) beef from Vintage Farms (http://vintagenaturalbeef.com/), bread from Sadie Rose Bakery (http://www.sadierose.com) and mussels from Carlsbad Aquafarm (http://carlsbadaquafarm.com/).

In addition, Cafe Japengo recently unveiled a summer cocktail menu showcasing premium spirits infused with fresh ingredients including Kaffir lime and lemongrass, jalapeno and ginger. All of the summer cocktails have been carefully handcrafted to sip alone or enjoy paired with the new sustainable menu.
