2013 Independent Chicago Songwriter Festival Dates Announced

CHICAGO - June 9, 2013 - PRLog -- Amidst a sea of auto-tune, reverb and buzz bands, the Independent Chicago Songwriter Festival brings it all back to basics – good original tunes, talented musicians, a voice and an acoustic guitar. If you’re ready to get back to the music come by Jerry’s Sandwiches in the Bucktown neighborhood, at 1938 W. Division St., Chicago, on June 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th, where the region's finest songwriters will present their craft in an intimate setting.

Initiated by musician Chris Darby in 2010, Independent Chicago has been working to help bring awareness to the underground songwriter community in the city, connecting local musicians with audiences and with each other. This year, each of the four nights will be curated by a different Chicago songwriter:  Julie Jurgens, Rob Reid, Sue Fink, and Chris Darby will each host a night.

The show begins at 9 p.m. each night, and will showcase 7-8 performers per evening. The cost is $10 daily and 2, 3 and 4-day passes are available. Enjoy excellent sandwiches, salads, pub fare and craft beer and cocktails while interacting with some of the most creative and passionate musical artists from the Chicago area and beyond. Relax in an inclusive atmosphere where the instrumentation is acoustic and the focus is on artistic exchange and fun. Past performers have included: Adam Faucett, Heather Styka, Ryan Groff of Elsinore, Ty Maxon, Facing Winter, Duck & Goose, Ami Saraiya, Miss Shevaughn & Yuma Wray and Rachel Eve.

Patrons will have access to limited edition recordings and posters as well as special offerings from the artists, including a compilation CD featuring a track from each performer.
