PRLog - Jun. 8, 2013 - BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. -- The Ted Todd Insurance Agency is the winner of the 2013 Uncommon Friends Business Ethics Award. The award was announced Thursday night at “An Uncommon Evening,” an annual dinner and awards event held at Harborside Event Center in downtown Fort Myers, Florida.

The Uncommon Friends Foundation introduced the ethics award in 2006 to recognize a business with high standards of ethical behavior in its industry and community in the way it conducts daily operations and reacts in times of crises. The award recognizes the organization’s commitment to business ethics in its dealings with customers, vendors, shareholders, regulators, lenders and the community, while demonstrating ethical marketing, communications and sales practices.

Ted Todd started selling Allstate insurance in 1986 from a small kiosk at the Sears store at Edison Mall. He knew from the outset that faithfully serving every customer’s best interest and providing impeccable customer service would be the keys to business success. The Ted Todd Insurance Agency is now one of Allstate’s largest independent agencies, with a total of seven locations and 53 licensed insurance professionals located in Lee, Brevard, Palm Beach, and Sarasota counties.

The Uncommon Friends Foundation, a nonprofit established in 1993, is dedicated to lifelong character building among youth and business leaders. It promotes character education in schools, ethics in the workplace, and historic preservation of the Burroughs Home and the James Newton Archives.  It draws upon the relationship that James D. Newton, a long-time Lee County real estate developer, and his wife enjoyed with Thomas Edison, Henry Ford, Harvey Firestone, Dr. Alexis Carrel, and Charles Lindbergh and their wives back in the 1920s. The Uncommon Friends Foundation and name evolved from Newton’s book, “Uncommon Friends,” in which he relates how these visionaries and pioneers shaped the twentieth century.
