Oceanside Chamber Ranks Number 1 in California on List of "Top 100 Social Media Friendly Chambers"

The Oceanside Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that it has been recognized by www.OnlineMBAPage.com as one of the top 100 Social Media Friendly Chambers in the country, ranking at number 13 overall and number 1 in the state of California.
 
OCEANSIDE, Calif. - June 7, 2013 - PRLog -- The Oceanside Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce that it has been recognized by www.OnlineMBAPage.com as one of the top 100 “Social Media Friendly” Chambers in the country, ranking at number 13 overall and number 1 in the state of California.

While the Oceanside Chamber is using several social media outlets, the Chamber’s Facebook page has been its most effective tool. With over 4,400 “Likes”, the Facebook page is used primarily to promote local events to introduce new businesses in the community and to highlight positive local news stories. Last year, the Chamber used its Facebook page to initiate a campaign to raise funds for Hurricane Sandy victims in its “Sister City” of Oceanside, NY. The Campaign eventually raised over $11,000.

Youtube has also been an important tool for the Chamber, with a focus on promotion of videos featuring local businesses. The Chamber offers to create a free video for any member business. Chamber Marketing Assistant, Kierstin Hill is responsible for arranging the video shoots with members. “These videos give our Chamber members the opportunity to promote themselves using our high-traffic social media outlets.  It’s a win-win for us and our members,”  said Hill.

The Chamber also has a strong presence on Twitter and is working to build more content and followers on Google Plus, Instagram, Pinterest and LinkedIn.

“Social media has become an increasingly important part of our business”, said Chamber’s Sales and Marketing Director, Scott Ashton. Ashton, along with Hill, oversees the Chamber’s web and social media presence.

“Our focus with social media is to promote our local business community and to create value for our members”, added Ashton. “With our strong web presence, we can provide small businesses with a level of exposure that most of them cannot create on their own. This also sets us apart from the majority of other business organizations.”

The Oceanside Chamber continually works to enhance its web presence, just recently announcing two major improvements to its website including a Job Bank and the addition of social media profiles to members’ listings on the chamber website.

The Job Bank is a place on the Chamber’s website where members can post employment opportunities and community members can look for openings at local business. This service is free of charge to Oceanside Chamber members and several businesses have already posted openings on the site.

Now with the addition of social media links to business listings on the Chamber’s website, the Chamber can help members build more followers on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, etc.

Chamber Board Member, Ceci Haas of We Care Bags spoke highly of the Chamber’s commitment to promote local businesses. “I have never seen the staff at a chamber of commerce more dedicated to the success of its members than the crew at the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce.
