PRLog -- WORTH is a story about appreciating the potential that lies within everything while at the same time reminding us to NOT judge a book by its cover. WORTH is also a film that Kathi never intended to make. Says Kathi, "I had already made a short film, "Reflections of a Life," taken it out on the festival circuit, won awards ... I felt like it was time to move on." But the Writer's Strike intervened. Kathi found herself out of work, along with the rest of Hollywood, for a period of weeks that dragged into months and she grew restless. "I always need to be working on something," says Kathi, "so I pulled this script out of the drawer, figured I could shoot it in a day and thought, 'why not?'"
Once WORTH hit the festival circuit and critics and audiences alike were unanimous in their praise. Said David E. Carter of the EMPixx Awards organization, "It was a pleasure to see this work. Everyone who saw it was greatly impressed. More than one viewer said, 'Gave me goosebumps.'"
Another reviewer remarked, "I was profoundly moved by Kathi's film. I came to the screening as a blank slate but left reminded of the real power great filmmakers have to educate and inspire, as well as entertain. WORTH is a powerful film that should be seen by everyone." And NY Times critic John Anderson said, "Truth is beauty ... Beauty-truth. WORTH follows that dictum. It is also a clever way of showing us how our perceptions can be rather twisted.” The film ultimately screened at 31 festivals and won 31 awards.
