BMW Could be Planning a New Supercar to be Released in 2016

It’s expected that this engine, together with the car’s lightweight construction, could reach 62 mph from a standstill in less than four seconds. It’s also expected to have a top speed of nearly 200 mph.  

Despite the power at play in the M8, it may be more eco-friendly than other supercars. It’s rumored that the M8 will be underpinned by the i8’s platform. The i8 is a concept vehicle from BMW that features a plug-in hybrid powertrain, which means that hybrid technology might make its way into the M8 in some form.

The M8 will be a true heir to the legacy of the M1. It could also end up being a rare vehicle — released in 1978, only 456 M1 models were produced. The 2016 M8 expected to be priced at $330,000.
