SAVANNAH, Ga. - June 6, 2013 - PRLog -- St. Andrew’s School is pleased to announce that Savannah’s first and only Green Certified Restaurant and Caterer, Thrive Café, will begin providing all student and faculty meals beginning August 2013.  The partnership is designed to bring healthy, affordable food to the Pre K – Grade 12 school on a daily basis.

In 2008, Chef Wendy Armstrong started Thrive Café.  Thrive uses green methods in their daily business practices, and works with over 20 local farms to source ingredients for delicious food with a healthy twist.

“We are thrilled to bring our services to St. Andrew’s School, sharing our eco-friendly practices and love for food with a new audience,” said Wendy Armstrong.  “We can’t wait for the students to arrive on campus and begin feeding them nourishing, healthy meals.”

Some of the new and exciting plans include using all natural meats, preparing more local vegetables, serving no fried foods and pouring local hormone free milk.  The St. Andrew’s garden will also take a prominent focus with this newly formed partnership.

“This is an amazing opportunity for our families and truly a creative approach to feeding hundreds of students on a daily basis,” said Mark Toth.  “St. Andrew’s continues to take an innovative approach in and out of the classroom.  This is another example of how we are reaching out to the community in creative and collaborative ways.”
