How the Program Works

The Jurewitz Law Group will represent children without accepting any attorneys' fees for legal services, however the client is responsible for reimbursing any out-of-pocket expenses for litigation costs we may pay on their behalf. Your child may qualify for the "Free Lawyers for Kids" program under the following conditions:

• At the time of the accident, the child was 12 years old or younger
• An adult who was injured in the same accident is also being represented (typically a parent or relative)
• The child’s claim can be settled out of court without filing a lawsuit

For example, if a child younger than 12 years old is involved in the same vehicle accident as one or both parents, the parents may seek damages from the at-fault party on behalf of the injured child. The Jurewitz Law Group will investigate the accident and negotiate with the insurance company to reach a fair and just settlement, as well as represent the parents and the child during the court approval process. In order to obtain monetary reimbursement for a child under 18 years of age in California, a judge must first approve the settlement amount. If the claim can be settled without a lawsuit, the Jurewitz Law Group will not charge attorney fees for representing the child.
