Quadriplegic Walks for the First Time Since Accident

LONGWOOD, Fla. - June 5, 2013 - PRLog -- ORLANDO, FL ― June 2013 ― Brandon Eady, 33, a quadriplegic from a car accident, said “no” to being paralyzed and threw away his wheelchair.  Eady has been attending therapy at Project Walk Orlando, a spinal cord injury recovery center over the past two years since his accident. Today, he has progressed to a walker and has left the wheelchair behind.
Eady was an international kickboxing champion in 2010 and an aspiring boxing champion who had already won a national title and multiple fighter of the year awards when he was severely injured in a single car accident on July 6, 2011.  He was left paralyzed from the neck down and told by his physicians not to expect any movement below his chest and only limited arm movement.
“We are very proud of Brandon and the progress he has made.  He is a true testament to what it takes to achieve greatness,” said Liza Riedel, Founder and Executive Director of Project Walk Orlando.
Eady is one of approximately 125 people with a spinal cord injury who train at Project Walk Orlando on a regular basis.  There are approximately 450,000 people in the United States that live with a spinal cord injury.  Every 48 seconds in our country, a person becomes paralyzed.  A majority of injuries occur from motor vehicle accidents, sports injuries, and falls.
