Michigan Foot Doctor Becomes Wolverines Football Player

Michigan podiatrist Dr. Anthony Weinert becomes a University of Michigan Wolverines football player for a day in support of prostate cancer research.

TROY, Mich. - June 5, 2013 - PRLog -- Dr. Anthony Weinert, acclaimed Michigan podiatrist with two offices offering the latest in podiatric medicine, is becoming a Michigan Wolverines football player this June 6th and 7th of 2013.

Dr. Weinert is an alumni of University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.  Through the years, Dr. Weinert has remained a diehard University of Michigan Wolverines fan, and he's excited to take part in the Michigan Men’s Football Experience (MMFE).    From their website:

"The Michigan Men’s Football Experience (MMFE) began in 2006, and evolved not from an idea about football, but as a way for a grateful patient to honor the doctor who performed his lifesaving surgery. That patient was U-M Athletic Director Dave Brandon, then CEO of Domino’s Pizza, Inc., and his doctor was James E. Montie, M.D.,  then-chair of the U-M Department of Urology. Brandon, a former Michigan football player coached by Bo Schembechler, conceived the idea. He contacted Coach Lloyd Carr about offering an off-season 48-hour window in the life of the Michigan football team and support the Prostate Cancer Research Program at the University of Michigan Health System. Coach Carr immediately embraced the idea. In 2011, Coach Brady Hoke gave a resounding yes when asked if he would continue the tradition and host the Michigan Men’s Football Experience."

Dr. Weinert will be participating in the two-day event designed to let you become a member of the Michigan Wolverine football team. Among the things he will experience are:
• on-field training in offensive and defensive schemes and special teams based in the Michigan tradition
• attend a typical team meeting in Schembechler Hall, review actual practice film, enjoy a pre-game meal and suit up in the Michigan Stadium team locker room; all under the direction of Coach Hoke, his coaching staff and former U-M coaching legends.

Dr. Weinert is proud to support the work that the University of Michigan is doing in prostate cancer research and clinical care.  "Prostate cancer is the most common form of cancer in men, and the amazing work U of M is doing is creating truly positive change in the way it's treated." says Weinert.  The two day event begins tomorrow, June 6th, with proceeds going to researching new and effective treatments and  to improving the quality of life for the many men suffering with prostate cancer. Dr. Weinert will be sharing pictures from the event on his social media channels, easily accessible from his website www.stopfeetpainfast.com
