Yosemite Trails To Host Cowboy Bucket List Adventures

Authentic Cowboy Camping and Cow Gather, south of Yosemite National Park

June 4, 2013 - PRLog -- Fish Camp, CA -- Cowboy Bucket List Adventures presented by Yosemite Trails will hold an authentic cow gather and camping experience July 19 – 21, 2013 south of Yosemite National Park.

This Cowboy Bucket List adventure is for cowboys and cowgirls who dream of waking up to a delicious cup of cowboy coffee, brewing over an open fire, at an authentic 100 year old cow camp. As the sun rises to spill warmth over the alpine meadow, you will saddle up and head out to track cattle from the back of your faithful horse.

The Yosemite Cowboys at Yosemite Trails, who have provided trail rides and pack trips into Yosemite National Park for three generations, invite fellow horse enthusiasts to bring their own mounts and try their hand at pushing cows with their four legged partner.  No previous cow experience necessary, just a good handle on your horse. For instance, riders must be able to demonstrate that they can jog, lope, mount and dismount unaided.

“At Cowboy Bucket List adventure, participants will learn to track cattle in the mountains, and check for signs of cattle, as well as how to drive cattle slowly so they don’t stampede. We also share what we have learned about going into the back country, such as, horse first-aid in the wilderness and what to take on a pack trip,” said Michele Knapp-Stehly, Cowboy Bucket List Adventures director, and third generation packer.

In addition to the cattle herding activities, each participant will enjoy beautiful trail rides at elevations above 5000 feet and hearty meals cooked in a Dutch oven, prepared by a camp cook.  Guests enjoy cowboy poetry, songs and camaraderie around the evening campfire.  After a full day, sleeping under thousands of stars in the High Sierra sky promises to make memories that will last a lifetime.

Yosemite Trails is owned and operated by the Knapp family, who provide trail rides at the south entrance of Yosemite National Park and raise Lazy K Horses and cattle in the San Joaquin Valley and Sierra Nevada Mountains.
