Tommie Cares Foundation Formed to Help Those with Special Needs Enjoy Real-Life Adventures

New Non-Profit to Serve New York, New Jersey, California, and Beyond

MOUNT KISCO, N.Y. - June 3, 2013 - PRLog -- Tommie Cares Foundation is being formed to help those with physical and developmental special needs.  The goal of the foundation is to help those in need gain confidence and self-esteem through real-life adventures with the assistance of local volunteers. The organization will host free events featuring a number of different activities like kayaking, stand up paddling, swimming, surfing, and body boarding.

Tom Kallish, Co-Founder of Tommie Cares states, “If you are not being of service, you are not living life. My true core belief in life is think good, do good, feel good.”

It is not necessary to have experience helping those with special needs to volunteer for Tommie Cares (http://tommiecares.org/volunteer/).  Volunteering actually gives you the ability to transform your life. Each event begins with a volunteer orientation and safety training designed to build compassion and understanding. Each activity provides those in need an opportunity to participate and expand their potential while creating new friends in the communities which they live.  At the end of every event, each participant is honored at an award ceremony.

“We’re pleased to support Tommie Cares Foundation in helping more children with special needs,” said Richard Lee, Executive Director of Surfer’s Environmental Alliance, host of the 7th annual SEAPaddleNYC on August 9th. “In addition to the coastal access and environmental actions SEA pursues, humanitarian causes that help children enjoy the water like this are dear to our hearts.”

The organization will host its first events in New York this July and August. Participation for those with special needs (http://tommiecares.org/event-schedule) is limited for safety on a first-come, first-served basis.

“I’m excited to work with Tom & his crew, Richard & our other generous supporters, and our amazing volunteers,” said Max Montgomery, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Tommie Cares Foundation. “I look forward to building on my past experience to serve more incredible children and share the joy of volunteering as we expand our programs to communities far and wide.”
