Weather App a Plus in Telcos Switch to APMAX IPTV Middleware

ELKADER, Iowa - June 3, 2013 - PRLog -- Elkader, IA –  If you ask Alpine Communications General Manager Chris Hopp about making local weather a priority for video customers he will tell you that it is so important that it was one of the driving factors in this Iowa telco’s decision to change middleware providers.

Alpine has converted over 70% of their video subs to the IPTV middleware solution from Innovative Systems and the conversion process has been relatively painless for their customers. One added bonus according to Hopp, "As we started converting over to the APMAX Middleware it became apparent that the thing our customers liked the best was the Weather App." The Weather App is part of the Weather Plus service that runs exclusively on the APMAX and is another example of telephony and IPTV integration that makes the Innovative solution unique in the IPTV space. Telcos can use Weather Plus for their voice customers to utilize a call in weather number and at the same time provide conditions, forecasts and animated radar for their IPTV customers.

On a personal note, Hopp adds that he really likes the ability to listen to and manage his APMAX Voicemail from his TV using the remote and expects that will become a highly regarded option with his IPTV customers.

Hopp agrees that one would think with so many options for weather that having it on their TV wouldn't be a big deal, but he is seeing and hearing first hand how people like the ability to push a button on their remote to get animated radar, forecasts and conditions for their area.
