ARVADA, Colo. - June 3, 2013 - PRLog -- Ground was recently broken for Applewood Our House III (http://www.applewoodourhouse.com/), the third memory care home for owner Alan Wyngarden. Unlike the first two homes that were remodels of existing homes, this one is being built new.

“We found a great home site at 6435 Garrison St. in Arvada,” explains Wyngarden. “The beautiful neighborhood is a mix of single-family homes and homes with ranch lots for horses. Our residents will enjoy the country feel to the area as well as the fantastic mountain views.

“This new home is going to be larger than our other two homes,” Wyngarden continues. “In addition to the eight private rooms, it will have four private suites with sitting rooms that would accommodate a couple. Tinker Homes, who handled the remodeling of our first two homes, is building Applewood Our House III as an ADA-compliant facility. All three of our homes focus on personalized care for our residents.”

Outstanding features of the new home will include several indoor areas to sit and socialize; pet therapy programs; a cozy fireplace; a large, open kitchen with counter; indoor and outdoor dining areas; a tranquil garden and waterfalls, and walking path; three daily nutritionist-designed meals prepared to perfection with food from the back-yard garden; state-of-the-art alert and video security systems as well fire/sprinkler system; three walk-in shower rooms; on-site salon with beautician services; and on-site laundry facilities. “The sound of train whistles in the distance may invoke nostalgic memories for residents,” Wyngarden adds.

Although the new assisted living home will not be ready until Fall, interested residents are encouraged to contact Our House Administrator Sheryl Kysar at 720-982-2040 for more information and to get on the reservation list.

Applewood Our House in Golden (1365 Yank St.) has been at capacity with 12 residents since it opened in Spring 2011 and Our House Too in Lakewood (1900 Upham St., near 20th and Wadsworth and Aviation Park) opened in summer 2012 and has 16 residents. Interested individuals can get their names on the waiting list or visit the homes by contacting Sheryl Kysar.

“We focus on providing personalized care for residents who have Alzheimer’s, various dementias and related diseases,” says Wyngarden. “We think anyone who tours the home will find it a step or two above other assisted living facilities. Safety and security are top priorities for our residents. Our mission is ‘Living today, where new memories begin’ which we implement by providing daily opportunities for residents to exercise, care, connect and eat well. We want this to truly be their ‘home away from home’—a home where they can live well, laugh often and love much.”

Each resident room includes bathroom, bed, closet organizer, flat screen TV, nightstand, and lamp. Residents may also bring their own furnishings.

“Hugs, kind words and training are evident in the staff,” explains Barbara Sexton, wife of Applewood Our House resident John Sexton. “John loves it here. He feels safe, well fed and cared for, and doesn’t feel trapped because he can go outside. It’s a haven for all of us.”
