Commercial and Securities Fraud Litigator Micol O. Sordina Joins Weingarten Brown LLP

LOS ANGELES - June 3, 2013 - PRLog -- Weingarten Brown LLP announced today that litigator Micol O. Sordina has joined the Los Angeles-based business and entertainment litigation firm.  Ms. Sordina’s experience includes litigation of complex commercial class actions, securities and derivative actions, RICO cases and financial services litigation matters for U.S. and foreign clients in state and federal courts in California and New York.

Before joining Weingarten Brown, Ms. Sordina was an associate in the New York and Los Angeles offices of Winston & Strawn, where, among other cases, she successfully represented the former Chief Financial Officer of AIG in a securities class action, Martin Act case, SEC enforcement action and derivative litigation; a committee of independent directors in the defense of a shareholder class action arising from the largest ever hedge fund merger; a private equity firm in an acquisition-fraud case; a major food manufacturer in several California consumer class actions; a Foreign Exchange Dealer in a RICO class action and related litigation; and several China-based public companies in securities fraud and derivative suits.    Ms. Sordina has also successfully represented clients engaged in defamation litigation, and has experience in conducting internal investigations and Foreign Corrupt Practices Act reviews for U.S. and foreign clients.

Ms. Sordina earned her Juris Doctor in 2006 from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, where she was a member of the Journal of International Law and Foreign Affairs. She graduated magna cum laude from UCLA in 2003 with a bachelor of arts in Political Science. Ms. Sordina is fluent in Italian, and is admitted to the California and New York bars.  She is the co-author of a number of legal articles, including “Defending Chinese Companies Listed on U.S. Exchanges,” published in the April/May issue of Today’s General Counsel.
