PATCHOGUE, N.Y. - June 3, 2013 - PRLog -- The BrickHouse Brewery and Restaurant will host its “Sexy and Seventeen” anniversary party on Sunday, June 9 from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The brewery is located at 67 West Main St. in Patchogue.
The party will include $3 pints featuring four of the brewery’s handcrafted beers, some made with hops from the Hops Garden behind the restaurant. Free appetizers will be served for everyone to enjoy along with live music in the Hops Garden by the renowned local artists, AlleyGators.

The BrickHouse Brewery and Restaurant opened on June 6, 1996 as Patchogue’s first and finest craft brewery, full-service restaurant and catering facility. The brewery was founded by a group of approximately 10 local businesspeople/restaurateurs. Today’s partners include four of the original visionaries — Deb Byrnes, George Hoag, Tom Keegan, and Jim McPeak — along with Bob Walch, one of the original investors.

The brewery is the oldest commercial building in Patchogue. It was built around 1850 as a dry goods store operated by John S. Havens. During the Civil War, the BrickHouse was reportedly used as a stopping point for the Underground Railroad where escaped slaves were hidden in the basement. In 1914, James G. Shand bought the building. It was later known as Shand’s Hardware Store from 1915 until 1990.

The BrickHouse has incorporated an old-time feel to its design; elements of the décor include much of the building’s original components such as the bar top made from the original maple flooring. An historic sign from Shand’s Hardware is on display in the main bar area on the ground floor, while the outside west wall of the building still proudly bears reference to the building’s heritage as a farm implement and dry goods store.

The BrickHouse’s menu includes a wide variety of food ranging from a raw bar to classic American food options such as burgers, steaks, wings, barbecue and much more. Karaoke and open mic nights take place Monday through Thursday and live music is performed by some of Long Island’s most popular bands Friday to Sunday.

“The brewery has become a fixture in the Long Island restaurant scene drawing not only from the greater Patchogue community but well beyond. Our BrickHouse name recognition and reputation for our own beers, music and food in a relaxed, local atmosphere are a source of pride to all of us at the BrickHouse,” said Maud Franklin, general manager of the BrickHouse Brewery. “We want to thank the community for making the past 16 years the best of our lives; if not for them, we would never have been as successful as we are today.”

Admission to the party is free. For more information, please contact the Brick House Brewery and Restaurant at 631-447-BEER (447-2337), by email at bricbrew@gmail.com, or check out the ever-cool Brick House Facebook page.
