LANSING, Mich. - June 3, 2013 - PRLog -- Few professional certifications have the global reach and career enhancing value for professionals involved with industrial hygiene as the Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) program. People in decision making and leadership roles depend upon the ABIH’s CIH certification as one important factor to ascertain the most competent person for critical positions involving industrial hygiene functions.

To help professionals applying for the CIH program, the American Board of Industrial Hygiene has worked diligently to make applying for the CIH a clear and straight forward process.

To qualify for admission to the ABIH examinations, an applicant must comply with all regulations of the Board that are in effect at the time the application is filed.  To help in this process, ABIH has a downloadable document called the Candidate Handbook available in the Document Library of the ABIH website. The Candidate Handbook discusses everything from academic and experience requirements to the application process, fees and examination information.

“A Certified Industrial Hygienist is an individual who has met requirements for education and experience, and through examination, has demonstrated knowledge in a number of health and safety areas,” reported Tracy Parsons, CIH, Administrative Program Manager at ABIH.  “It is the highest level of certification for professionals who practice industrial hygiene.  ABIH has developed a number of online resources that can help applicants understand the process, requirements and prepare for the examination.”

The ABIH’s CIH program has been accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) and is a recognized certification board by the International Occupational Hygiene Association (IOHA). ABIH has released a video about the many benefits of the CIH program that can be viewed at: http://www.ABIH.org
