Imaging Specialists to Offer Mammograms at Special Rate in June

MT. PLEASANT, S.C. - June 3, 2013 - PRLog -- Imaging Specialists, a free standing private imaging facility in Mt. Pleasant, has announced that they will offer a special discounted mammogram rate throughout June.    While the self-pay mammogram rate at local hospitals can cost up to three hundred dollars, Imaging Specialists will be offering mammograms to self-pay patients for $100.   Dr. Michael Garovich explains, “At Imaging Specialists, we believe that patient care comes first.  We know that healthcare can be costly, and we want to be a part of the solution not the problem when it comes to healthcare costs.”
 Any patient can schedule a mammogram with Imaging Specialists, even if they have had previous mammograms at a different location.  Dr. Garovich explains, “We will handle retrieving the previous mammogram films so that we can adequately compare with the most recent results.   It is important for the patient to know that they have a choice as far as where the imaging takes place.”
  The American Cancer Society guidelines suggest that all women over the age of forty receive a mammogram yearly.  Some patients with high risk factors are recommended to start at thirty-five years old.    For some women, a breast MRI is recommended as well.  At Imaging Specialists, a breast biopsy can be done onsite immediately following a mammogram if an area of concern is detected.  At Imaging Specialists, patients speak with a radiologist and receive their results immediately following their digital mammogram.
