Marina Bolchakova –The Classical Dancer with a Heart of an Artist

On June 8, 2013, Marina Bolchakova former ballerina of the Bolshoi Ballet will have her first official showing at the prestigious Artifacts art gallery at Eureka Springs, AR.

At the age of 12, Marina was accepted as a student in the world famous Bolshoi Dance Academy in Moscow, Russia.   Her two favorite things were classical ballet and drawing.  She was hired by the Bolshoi Theater and danced with them for eight years, traveling around the globe; including an extended performance at the legendary La Scala Theater in Milan, Italy.  Even during this amazing time, she did not put away her sketch book…

For her dance performances, she received numerous awards, including Best Specialty Performer of the Year from the All American Entertainment Awards and Augusto Batisto Silver Cup from the Italian Government. She also did all the costume designing for a production of the Cirque Fantastique which was named a Best Dinner Show of the Year.

Her unusual style containing a combination of detailed oil painting and abstract media is critically acclaimed, and her work is sought after in private collections. In December of 2012, she officially celebrated the uniquely emotional moment of “hanging up her ballet shoes”, retiring from her wonderful stage career in order to concentrate on what she had loved since childhood-her art painting.  

Marina’s art was accepted to such prominent contests as: Artistic Excellence Competition sponsored by Southwest Art and The Artist’s Magazine Annual Art Competition.

She resides in Branson, MO with her husband Andre, standard schnauzer Tema and very independent cat, Vasya.
