“Last year the event was a huge success, even with the rain, with more than 300 Walkers from throughout Metro Detroit, Ann Arbor, Flint, and Port Huron stepped up for the homeless animals. Many more came just for the Pet Fair” says Alexandria Whitney, Founder of Guardians For Animals. “GFA & Affiliates saved over 3,400 “death row” shelter animals last year. With everyone’s support 2013 can be even more successful while encouraging healthy living through exercise, creating awareness, and raising funds for homeless animals.”

“Because of the support GFA is able to give; our affiliate rescues are able to save more death row shelter animals that often have only hours before their lives end. Currently, we are helping over twelve local shelters to reduce their kill rates.  We work hand in hand to save lives. Our GFA Affiliates walk in to save doomed animals when the rest of the world has turned their backs on them.”

They are living, innocent animals are going to die unless we all band together to save them. We reply heavily on donations from the general public. Shockingly, most people believe that shelters do not kill animals. “After seeing firsthand how many animals die in one of Michigan’s largest shelters, something had to be done to help save them.  Thus GFA was created in 2004. We are ALL volunteer. Rescue is a passion NOT a paycheck!”

“When people make a tax deductible donation to GFA, they help all the rescues listed on our web site to save more lives - www.guardiansforanimals.org. Our motto is: Don't breed or buy while homeless animals die. Adopt a rescue animal today!

Guardians for Animals is dedicated to helping rescues, and sanctuaries save the lives of abandoned, abused, and neglected animals. GFA helps dedicated NO KILL rescue groups receive much-needed funds, supplies, and assistance with placement of animals in their care.
