Follow on Google News | Fundraiser on 1000 Mile Cycle Challenge for Kent’s Disabled Children!A Cyclist is riding the length of Britain in aid of David’s Day, a cause dedicated to providing unique days out for disabled children and their families in Kent.
By: Royal British Legion Industries Kent charity, Royal British Legion Industries (http://www.rbli.co.uk/) After hearing about David’s Day, Chris Beale, a Design Engineer from Kings Hill in Kent, decided to plan a fundraising initiative to help raise money and awareness of the cause. He decided that, since he was a keen cyclist, completing a 1000 mile ride across the length of the British Isles would be the biggest challenge he could set himself and by far the furthest he would have ever pedalled. Chris explains, ‘I wanted to do something that would really push my boundaries and make people stop and take notice of this great local cause! I hope to do some good by raising money and providing an opportunity for more families to enjoy David’s Day. The route will be the furthest I’ve ever cycled, approximately 1080 miles, starting from Lands End on the 22nd May and finishing at John o’ Groats on the 6th June, which is an average of nearly 70 miles a day over 16 days! I’ll also be tweeting photos and updates from points of interest en route via the handle @ChrisBealeLeJog.’ Chris aims to raise more than £2,500 for David’s Day by completing the cycle challenge.
