Follow on Google News | SmartGeorge LLC; new company will teach financial intelligence to the 16-24 year old age groupBy: PR First Scheerer, whose business experience includes holding the Master Franchise rights for an international franchise in New England, a background in commercial real estate, as well as having served as President/Owner of a material handling systems manufacturer in Boston, said that he believes it is critical for young people to get properly educated regarding personal financial intelligence. His new company, which is located at 68 Evergreen Street, Kingston, is an outgrowth of other work that he has done in the financial education arena, initially under a not-for-profit venture that he founded in 2009. In that role, he has been working with locally-operated Crossroads for Kids which serves underprivileged youth, where he works with their older teens to educate them in matters of personal finance. He also carried the financial education message to multiple schools in Boston, but concluded that the best way to reach students is in smaller settings. SmartGeorge teaches teens and young adults not just the "how" of personal financial management, but more importantly, the "why." In partnership with parents, SmartGeorge teaches financial skills as well as coaches life perspective to give students the advantage of control over money from an early age, encouraging independence, motivation and self-reliance. “As a father, I know the struggles that parents face with their children on the subject of financial education. It’s hard to know exactly what and how to teach them, but the biggest challenge is that kids in that age group are usually trying to distance themselves from their parents. Young people are better off with an objective resource when it comes to financial coaching. The SmartGeorge program is skills-driven and interactive, but also very contextual. It properly prepares the younger generation for their next step, whether that is college or the workforce.” He added, “Financial intelligence is critical education, but no one really teaches it. That’s why we do.” SmartGeorge LLC offers four-week programs in financial education, meeting twice a week at the Kingston location, with sessions that are an hour and a half in length. In all, the program runs 12 hours and is structured for afternoons or evenings, depending on the students’ schedule. Special compact sessions are also available. The course covers such topics as: Assets and liabilities, how to understand net worth Credit, credit ratings and why they are important Active vs. Passive Income The power of incrementalism through compounding Retirement and the process of goal-setting Budgeting – how to start a life plan to be able to retire with security Becoming financially successful through self discipline and habit development All classes are held at the Kingston location. Course cost is $349. Interested parties can learn more about the offerings of the company by visiting www.smartgeorge.com, or by calling 866-436-6005, or e-mail info@smartgeorge.com.
