Follow on Google News | Living History: Joseph Murray Day at Poricy ParkPoricy Park Conservancy located in Middletown, NJ, will hold Joseph Murray Day on Saturday, June 8, 1:00pm to 4:30pm.
By: Poricy Park Conservancy The day’s events include tours of the historic Murray Farmhouse and Barn, presentations, and demonstrations using the spinning wheel, weaving, wood working, colonial games and chores for children, colonial gardening, fence building, and more. Discussions and presentations scheduled include "Abigail Adams" an early feminist; and "Something About George." There will also be a black powder Musket fire demonstration, which is loud! The day culminates with a live history reenactment of events from 233 years ago. Visitors are encouraged to bring their cameras and take photos, and have fun at the colonial photo op on the Farmhouse lawn. A detailed schedule of the day's events is available on-line at www.PoricyPark.org Appropriate for adults and children ages 7 and up; children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult. Walk-ins welcome, but pre-registration is encouraged to help accelerate entrance. Regular program fees apply: $5 for members and $7 for non-members. Maximum per family household is $20 members with PPC Family Membership or higher and $25 non-members; Poricy Park Conservancy is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization located at 345 Oak Hill Road, Middletown Township, NJ. All community and summer camp programs are run by Poricy Park Conservancy. With exceptional ecological resources, the 250 acre historical and nature site makes it one of the largest parks in Monmouth County. The Park offers recreational activities such as magnificent wooded hiking trails, bird watching, pristine pond settings, fishing, and a one-of-a-kind 70 million year-old Cretaceous fossil bed.
