NC State Poole College of Management Announces Appointments to the Poole Advisory Board

 
RALEIGH, N.C. - May 30, 2013 - PRLog -- RALEIGH, N.C.  –  The Poole College of Management at North Carolina State University - www.poole.ncsu.edu - announces the appointment of four industry leaders to the Poole College Advisory Board. The appointments fill vacancies created when several current members retired from the board.

“Members of the Poole College Advisory Board bring valuable perspective and insight from their respective industries and the business community in general. The college very much appreciates their service,” said Dr. Ira R. Weiss, dean of the college.

Following are the new board members. Each will be serving a three-year term on the board.

- Mark Baxter, partner, assurance at Ernst & Young, Raleigh, N.C. Baxter has over 15 years of experience with a primary focus on serving public and private technology and life sciences companies . He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in accounting from the North Carolina State University Poole College of Management, where he currently serves on the Master of Accounting Program’s faculty advisory board.  Baxter is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the AICPA and the North Carolina Association of Certified Public Accountants.  He also serves as treasurer for Southeast BIO. Baxter resides in Raleigh, N.C.

- David Gwyn, president at French West Vaughan, Raleigh, N.C. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an MBA from Babcock School of Management at Wake Forest University and additional management and marketing degrees from Harvard University, New York University and American University in London. As President at FWV, Gwyn oversees both the client and associates side of the business. Gwyn resides in Raleigh, N.C.

- Matt King, director at KKR Capstone. King joined KKR in 2003 and has been involved with Accellent, First Data Corporation, Ipreo, PRIMEDIA, Sealy, Visant and Yellow Pages Group. He has also served as the leader of business development and portfolio management operations at KKR Asset Management where he was responsible for risk management, marketing, new product development, and the creation of new investment strategies. King has previously served on the board of Corporate Capital Trust and Sealy Corporation. Before joining KKR, he was at McKinsey & Company where he worked in a broad range of industries from insurance to petroleum. He holds a bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, Phi Beta Kappa, from North Carolina State University. He resides in New York City, N.Y.

- Hampton Pitts, executive vice president, Ashton Woods Homes, Raleigh, N.C. As both executive vice president and Raleigh division president, Hampton is responsible for managing employees and daily operations of the company’s North Carolina and Texas offices, as well as developing strategies for their future growth. He has more than 25 years of professional experience in home building. Hampton is a member of the Home Builders Association of Raleigh-Wake County and the Home Builders Association of Durham, Orange and Chatham Counties, the Midtown Raleigh Alliance Advisory Board and the NC State Poole College of Management Advisory Board. He serves on the leadership council for Church of the Apostles in Raleigh and is past president of the dean’s advisory board for the NC State College of Humanities and Social Sciences. Pitts resides in Raleigh, NC.
