Starkey Mortgage Presents Check to KW Cares; Helps Keller Williams Associates in Need

CHARLOTTE, N.C. - May 31, 2013 - PRLog -- On Tuesday, May 28, Starkey Mortgage (WR Starkey Mortgage, LLP NMLSR# 2146) presented a check on behalf of their Community Connection program in the amount of $5,250.00 to KW Cares, a public charity created to provide emergency financial assistance to Keller Williams Realty associates and their families in need as a result of a sudden emergency.

With every Keller Williams office participating nationally, KW Cares gives 80,000 agents the opportunity to connect with their community. “KW Cares truly is the Keller Williams culture in action, we live to serve others,” according to Pamela Temple, Team Leader at Keller Williams Realty Lake Norman-Mooresville.

Andrea Kindley (NMLSR #93066, NC License #I-114779), Branch Manager and Senior Loan Officer for Starkey Mortgage’s Mooresville office, started working with Temple after learning about the KW Cares program and its influence on the North Carolina community. “When you see someone making a positive impact on others, especially in your own community, it’s hard not to want to be a part of it,” says Kindley.  

Starkey Mortgage’s Community Connection program was established in 2000 to better address the needs of the community. The mortgage company donates $250, for each loan closed by Starkey Mortgage, to the homebuilder or homebuyer’s charity of choice. In the past year, over $60,000 has been gifted to charities in Starkey’s local communities across the United States.

Since its inception in 2003, KW Cares has made more than 1,800 grants to individuals when they have needed it most. Although donations to the charity decreased during the downturn of the economy and real estate market, it grew steadily to more than $3.4 million in 2011.

“With the housing market on the rise, we are empowered to help people in extreme need at a higher level, which is our passion,” Temple explained. As the economy and real estate market begin to heat up, charities across the United States, along with the help of individuals and corporations like Starkey Mortgage, should start to see contributions again.
