By: Open Doors Media Ltd Careers World Magazine Runs Competitions For Its Readers! Careers World magazine has announced that it is running not one, but two competitions for its Facebook users! The publication provides careers guidance materials for both students and careers advisors completely free of charge, while its sister publication, the ‘What Apprenticeship?’ Some careers advice companies frown upon such giveaways, labelling them gimmicky and a sneaky way to increase exposure. Careers World, however, believe that giving something back to their audience is a great way to reward their readers and shows that they aren’t just a faceless company dishing out the same old advice to young people. The magazine is currently running two competitions, both via its Facebook page. The first rewards both new and old ‘friends’ who like the Careers World page. Once the target of 1500 ‘likes’ is reached, then a prize will be sent out to a lucky winner chosen at random from the 1500 fans. It doesn’t stop there though; the more likes the page gets, the better the prizes will become! Who knows what they’ll give away at 10,000! The second competition is more interactive to the fans of the page; the person posts a picture of themselves in their dream career and a winner is chosen by a panel of judges. This competition runs monthly, with the winner decided at the end of the month and the results are posted on the page. The editor of Careers World, Tom Haymes, who is responsible for running both competitions, explains the basis behind the idea: “We wanted to make our page more interactive for our readers because they’re the ones we’re trying to reach out to. What better way to reward our audience than to give away some great prizes? Social Media is a popular platform for younger audiences and this way we get our readers interacting with us as opposed to seeing Careers World as just a resource to use at school or college” The competitions will run indefinitely and the page can be accessed via Facebook at www.facebook.com/ ### Notes for the Editor 1.
