By: AccuVis Bio Principle Purification is based on spin column chromatography. Briefly, the sample is lysed and the released genomic DNA is bound to Norgen's column under optimized salt concentrations. Under these conditions only the genomic DNA is bound to Norgen's column while most of the contaminating RNA and cellular proteinaceous components are removed in the flowthrough. The bound DNA is then washed to remove any remaining impurities. Lastly, the purified genomic DNA is eluted into the provided Elution Buffer. Performance The Blood Genomic DNA Isolation Micro Kit allows for the isolation of genomic DNA from the blood of various species, including humans. Typical yields of genomic DNA will vary depending on the cell density of the blood sample. Preparation time for a single sample is less than 30 minutes, and each kit contains sufficient materials for 50 preparations. The purified genomic DNA is fully digestible with all restriction enzymes tested, and is completely compatible with downstream applications including PCR and Southern Blot analysis.
