Valensi Rose, PLC Attorney Michael Morris to Co-Chair The 2013 Entertainment Industry Conference

LOS ANGELES - May 29, 2013 - PRLog -- Michael R. Morris, Esq., a principal at Valensi Rose, PLC, will co-chair the 2013 Entertainment Industry Conference. The annual Entertainment Industry Conference is presented by the California CPA Education Foundation and will be held on June 12, 2013, at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.  The all-day conference pulls together over 300 of the best and brightest entertainment industry CPAs and it covers a variety of topics crucial to their profession.
 
“The purpose of the conference is to keep CPAs and other financial and business professionals in the entertainment industry apprised on the present shape of the industry,” said Mr. Morris. “This includes the current state in music publishing, domestic and international tax laws and issues, estate planning for legacy management, and new media affecting clients.”

Mr. Morris’ co-chair is William Harris, a Managing Director at Nigro Karlin Segal & Feldstein, LLP, where he is responsible for providing business and financial management services to clients in film, television, music and sports.

In addition to his co-chair duties, Mr. Morris is also participating in the “Sale of a Music Publishing Company” panel, featuring Alan Melina, Donald S. Passman, Esq., Peter T. Paterno, Esq., David Renzer and Patrick A. Russo.  The high-powered panel will feature Mr. Passman’s well-known music industry hypothetical case model to vividly bring to life the dynamics of a music publishing deal.  Anticipated topics include pricing models, key terms, copyright issues and pitfalls associated with the sale of a music publishing company.

The conference is designed for CPAs with clients in the film, television, multi-media, and music industries and related businesses, as well as business managers, attorneys, bankers, CFOs and controllers who work in the entertainment industry.

Mr. Morris is a former trial lawyer for the IRS and a State Bar of California Certified Specialist in Taxation Law. He is past president of the California Copyright Conference and has been named a “Super Lawyer” among Southern California lawyers for eight consecutive years, from 2006 through 2013.   He was also designated by the Los Angeles Business Journal as one of “L.A.’s Top 100 Lawyers” in 2009.  He is an active member of the Entertainment Industry Conference’s planning committee and a frequent participant in this important industry event.
