New Branson website makes waves

BransoRrank.com grabs attention with deliciously honest reviews

BRANSON, Mo. - May 29, 2013 - PRLog -- It's been less than a month since the quiet launch of BransonRank.com, but Branson's newest review website has already started turning heads with its unique blend of humor and (sometimes brutally) honest criticism. “We just wanted to fill in some of the gaps in online reviews,” says Jason Hunt, one of Branson Rank's three current reviewers. “We noticed that there was a a lot of fear online about posting honest reviews, but that's exactly what Branson needs.”

Honesty does seem to be the name of the game on BransonRank.com. Of the reviews posted so far by Hunt and his fellow reviewers, Kelsi Gause and Neil Sawford, most offer some helping criticisms, but are overwhelmingly positive. There are, however, some notable exceptions that have started a buzz in internet circles.

In particular, Hunt's review of Shoji Tabuchi's long-running Branson show drips with disdain for and open criticism of what is arguably one of the city's most famous attractions. Calling into question both the quality of the performance and the musicians' commitment to their craft, the review holds nothing back...and Branson's thriving online fandom took notice.

Hunt laughs. “We had just barely starting promoting the site online and Shoji['s review] wasn't even what we were promoting, but it certainly drew some attention.” Members of at least one popular Branson forum were offended by what they saw as his “inability” to say something nice without also saying something mean. When asked if he regrets being so harsh, he insists he's just being honest. “I'm a jerk. It's written right there on the website. I'll tell it like it is. There are shows I think are great and shows that stink. If I were doing research for a vacation, I'd want to know the truth.” Fortunately for Mr. Tabuchi, Hunt confides that Branson Rank aims to be balanced – another reviewer has already been dispatched to offer a second opinion.

Regardless of what some internet denizens may assert, BransonRank.com reviewers are taking their job seriously. Reviews that appear on the site are thorough and usually include pictures, along with a “Bottom Line” section that ranges from “I could watch it over and over!” to “You couldn't pay me to go back.” Shows are also given an overall score and ranked accordingly. The details of the scoring system are a closely guarded secret. Currently, Paul Harris & the Cleverlys are at the top, but their position is perilous – they stole it out of the hands of the Haygoods just last week.

There are quite a few websites on the internet devoted to Branson entertainment, so the competition can be fierce. Even so, BransonRank.com is determined to be different and they insist they are here to stay. While that remains to be seen, one thing is apparent: they won't go down without a fight - or a laugh.
