Follow on Google News | Acclaimed Open Mic, Soapbox Sessions, Celebrates 7 Years at the Coffee Bean & Tea LeafA much loved artistic community marks a milestone by leading a movement toward creative expansion and promotion in Southern California.
By: Jason Brain/ Soapbox Nation Entertainment A native Angeleno and spoken word poet, Jason Brain (http://www.jasonbrain360.com) “When I first started this open mic in 2006, I was told by the Coffee Bean District Manager that a few open mics had been started within the company, but none lasted longer than a handful of shows, ” says Brain, “I’m proud to say we’ve put on over 340 Soapbox Sessions in our time with the Coffee Bean and have easily seen over 1000 artists grace our stage.” Setting it apart from most other Los Angeles open mics is the fact it is hosted outdoors three seasons out of the year. The fire pit and heaters, nearby fountain, and the hustle and bustle of Ventura Blvd under the beautiful moonlit sky brings a warmth and life to the night’s performances that won’t be found elsewhere. But the real magic in Soapbox Sessions is in the community that has grown up around it over the years. Many Soapbox regulars have been there since the beginning, a testament to the loyalty, support and respect they share for the space, their craft and each other. In continuing support and advancement of the arts in LA, the company is also now offering Promotional Media Services to artists, including, but not limited to, live recordings from the Soapbox Sessions open mic, website development and hosting, press kit creation, and much more. With 7 years as the open mic of choice, Soapbox hopes to now become the resource of choice for all artists.
