"The Sixth Day" Comes To Vivid Life

TUCSON, Ariz. - May 29, 2013 - PRLog -- Novelist E.S. Kraay has announced that Alistair McKenzie’s production of the author’s latest offering, The Sixth Day: A 17,175-Word Novella About Creation and Prizefighting is complete.  The Sixth Day chronicles one day in the life of five abandoned brothers in the mid-60’s and concludes with the oldest brother’s prizefight against The Polish Dropper.

“Alistair’s interpretation far exceeded my expectations,” Kraay admits.  “Given the structure of the book [written in Ebonics and without traditional punctuation], it was a real challenge, but Alistair doesn’t miss a beat.  He uses the words on paper to create a breathing tapestry in the listener’s mind.  Not many people can do that, and most certainly not with the magic that he does.”

When he learned that McKenzie was a musician, Kraay invited him to compose a song for the audio book.  “Two days later,” Kraay explains, “Alistair sent me his first cut.  It was extraordinary and captures the heart of the story with its ‘bluesy twang’ and mystical lyrics.”  Titled “We Pray for Light,” the original composition is featured at the conclusion of the audio book.

McKenzie has completed a screenplay for The Sixth Day.  “This is a beautiful story, which can be easily adapted to film,” he says.  “This could be Sylvester Stallone’s shot at redemption,” Kraay adds.
