PHOENIX - May 29, 2013 - PRLog -- The American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC (http://www.acac.org/)) has announced that its CIEC and CMC certification programs have been reaccredited by the Council of Engineering and Scientific Specialty Boards (CESB (http://www.cesb.org/)).

The Council-certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC) and Council-certified Microbial Consultant (CMC) designations have been reaccredited at the “engineering related” level for five years, the longest accreditation term offered by CESB.

“The CIEC and CMC are the only indoor air quality certifications ever to achieve this level of CESB accreditation,” said Charlie Wiles, ACAC executive director.  “We are proud to offer this mark of distinction to our certificants.”

The Council-certified Indoor Environmental Consultant (CIEC) specializes in indoor air quality investigations in residential, commercial and institutional settings, addressing a range of issues including HVAC, building envelopes, lead and asbestos, microbial concerns and general air quality.

The Council-certified Microbial Consultant (CMC) specializes in designing and interpreting microbial sampling regimens for indoor environment investigations.

In order to achieve accreditation, the CIEC and CMC programs complied with stringent standards for examination development, program operation, organizational structure and independence.  Additionally, they are the only indoor air quality certifications to require extensive verifiable field experience of every candidate.

The American Council for Accredited Certification (ACAC) is an independent, non-profit certifying body founded in 1993 to serve the indoor air quality industry.  ACAC offers third-party accredited personnel certifications in fields related to indoor environmental consulting, remediation and management.  ACAC certifies more than 2,800 professionals across North America and overseas.  For more information, visit the ACAC website at www.acac.org.
