By: The Development Partnership The EWA, organised by Dubai Quality Group, aims to celebrate shining examples of female entrepreneurship and business success across many sectors in the UAE. Women working and living in the Emirates who have excelled in their business and professional lives and made a significant contribution to the UAE are recognized. All finalists were selected after a rigorous assessment procedure involving interviews, site visits, workshops and a final ‘Supreme Jury’ made up of Emirati dignitaries. Awards were given to overall ‘Business’ Judith Barton, Chief Assessor and Managing Director of The Development Partnership said ‘the Emirates Women Award will inspire and encourage the future generations of female leaders, contributing immensely to the development of a brighter future. UAE benefits from an economic and social environment that allows women in particular to prove themselves in creative and outstanding projects, and these awards really showcase these outstanding women.’ The UAE has become widely admired for its progressive educational, social and economic stance. Figures this year say that 70% of university graduates in Dubai are female and about 30 per cent are in leadership positions. The UAE government is keen that Emirati and ex-patriot women live, work and compete for the award together. The Development Partnership will continue to represent the United Kingdom in the Middle East, assessing further business awards and delivering crucial business and leadership training. Criteria Winner Innovation (2 winners) From Sharjah, this flag bearer for innovative improvement, enabling this roads and transport organisation to achieve over AED 45 million worth of savings since 2010.
