Montgomery’s history is like a thread that runs from its early buildings to important Civil War sites to civil rights landmarks. The current redevelopment theme, “City of Dreams,” shows that present-day Montgomery is a continuation of that connecting thread. Previous Arcadia authors, King and Pell combine their experience and knowledge of Montgomery’s history to show images from past to present.

Comparing our present to our past is how we understand our history.  Arcadia’s Then & Now series makes such local comparisons available.  Books in this series offer a special view of American life, placing historical images side by side with contemporary photographs.
