BRADENTON, Fla. - May 28, 2013 - PRLog -- In response to the recent damage caused by the massive tornado that swept through Moore, Oklahoma, Mazda has donated $50,000 to the American Red Cross to help the affected residents. Mazda initially announced that $25,000 would be donated by Mazda North America Operations, but the Board of Trustees of the Mazda Foundation approving an additional donation of $25,000. Cox Mazda, a Bradenton, Florida Mazda dealer (http://www.coxmazda.com/cities/bradenton-fl/), extends its sympathy to those affected by the disaster and is proud of the support that Mazda is offering.

"The tornado that touched-down in Moore has had an unprecedented impact on those located far outside the actual impact area, including our own employees, dealers and customers," said Jim O'Sullivan, president and CEO, MNAO. "Because of the heroic work the American Red Cross does on behalf of those in need, we are honored to work with them to provide help to those who have been affected by the disaster."

After the disaster, the American Red Cross has worked to provide families with food, other essential items, and emergency aid. The donation from Mazda will help to fund these services, as well as the vehicles that help workers to reach residents.

Mazda's outreach is going farther than donations. For residents who have filed an insurance claim for a damaged or loss vehicle, Mazda is offering $500 cash towards the purchase of a new Mazda. Customers may also be eligible to defer payments for up to 90 days. Additionally, Mazda drivers in the affected counties will not be penalized for late payments on their vehicle or insufficient funds in their accounts.

Responsibility to the community and working to create a better world are important parts of Mazda's corporate philosophy. Since 1992, the Mazda Foundation (http://www.mazdafoundation.org/) has donated nearly $8 million dollars to causes across the United States, both in the wake of tragedy and for other goals, such as the Second Harvest Food Bank and the Challenged Athletes Foundation.
