Blerdology Partners With Chevrolet & Code for America to “Code All Day, Party All Night”

DC-based social enterprise to host Tech Camp Preview and “Blerds + Hackers” Party to celebrate the National Day of Civic Hacking
 
WASHINGTON - May 27, 2013 - PRLog -- Blerdology, the social enterprise designed to support, engage and grow the black tech and startup community is embracing the spirit of collaboration to support the National Day of Civic Hacking. The organization will be teaming up with the e-diplomacy division of the U.S. State Department, Code for America, Chevy, Microsoft and more to host and cross promote a breadth of exciting events between May 31 – June 1 including a tech camp, hackathon and  Blerds + Hackers, the official National Day of Civic Hacking After Party.

The National Day of Civic Hacking is an initiative put forth by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy to bring together citizens, software developers, and entrepreneurs from all over the nation to collaboratively create, build, and invent new solutions using publicly-released data, code and technology to solve challenges relevant to our neighborhoods, our cities, our states and our country.

Blerdology will kick off the weekend on May 31st with a closed Tech Camp Preview at Microsoft in partnership with the e-diplomacy division of the U.S. State Department . The following day the team will offer support to the Code for America DC Brigade as they host a 2-day community hackathon at Google (Day 1) and the Affinity Lab (Day 2). In between the coding sessions Blerdology will host Blerds + Hackers, the official National Day of Civic Hacking After party from 7 pm to 10 pm on June 1st at tech incubator 1776.

Blerds + Hackers will rally the top tech enthusiasts in Washington for a fun filled evening of networking, live music and entrepreneurial empowerment. Attendees will get a sneak peek of the new line up of vehicles from sponsor Chevy and the hottest startups launching in the district over complimentary drinks from D’USSE, a delicious assortment of treats from Cane Sweets, and music by Tony T and the Keith Wesby Project. Influencer engagement platform Zoomph will be the social media sponsor and community partners include Code for America DC Brigade, DiversiTech, Blogalicious, Color of Tech, Just Carrington, Dominique Broadway, and Sugar Rim Bartending.
