CHANDLER, Ariz. - May 24, 2013 - PRLog -- CHANDLER (AZ)—Brighton Publishing LLC announces a recent pre-release presentation of author Kathleen Cook Huebbe’s latest work, “Runaway: Their Moment in Time,” to a group of Glendora, California Rotarians. After the presentation, a donation of literature was made to the Glendora Public Library on behalf of Ms. Huebbe. Currently being accelerated through production, Runaway: Their Moment in Time is slated for eBook release in summer-2013, with the print release scheduled for late-2013. Runaway: Their Moment in Time will be distributed in print through Ingram, the world’s largest book distributor, and will be available in both print and eBook format from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other leading book retailers worldwide.

Taking time from her hectic schedule, author Kathleen Cook Huebbe pays it forward to members of the Glendora Rotary Club with a presentation of her fast-paced novel based on the adventurous California street racing of the 1950s.

With much of her novel based on racing in and around the Glendora area, many of the Rotarians were thrilled with such a topic.

One audience member in the room soon proclaimed, “You’re gonna make Glendora famous!”

With her down-to-earth style and charm, Ms. Huebbe responded by saying, “If a single person—who doesn’t already know me—reads my book, I will consider that a success.”

Runaway: Their Moment in Time captures the lifestyle, flavor, and camaraderie associated with street racing and the car clubs of the 50s.

It had been over twenty years since Topher, a chronic worrier, had last walked through the hallowed doors of his old high school hangout, the 1950’s styled diner, “Oasis.” Surprisingly, Topher receives a letter inviting him back for one more meeting.

Growing up together in Southern California and dreaming of owning classic cars, Topher and his friends, Grant, Stephen, Brandon, and the adventurous teenage girl known as Runaway, become intrigued by street racing and the legends that surrounded the local diner and its patrons.

Soon, the teens form their own car club and…the story shifts into a whole new gear.

The Glendora Rotary Club (http://www.rotaryofglendora.org/index.html) was chartered by Rotary International in 1956, with Leif E. Evans as its president. The club continues their work in the community, and internationally with the motto “Service Above Self.”

The Glendora Public Library (http://www.ci.glendora.ca.us/index.aspx?page=367) and Cultural Center enriches the community by connecting people to the world of ideas, information, and imagination to support their work, education, personal growth, and enjoyment.

Kathleen Cook Huebbe was born in Southern California, and grew up listening to stories of street racing in the 1950s from her father, a street racer himself. Ms. Huebbe has been a high school English teacher for more than eighteen years and currently resides in Southern California with her husband, their three energetic young children, and Jake, their Golden Retriever. First envisioned as a daydream, Runaway: Their Moment in Time has been in the making for over twenty years.
