Arlington’s business community celebrated the best in business at the Arlington Chamber of Commerce’s Arlington Best Business Awards, held recently at the Sheraton Pentagon City Hotel. This annual event recognizes the most illustrious and accomplished businesses that have made significant contributions to the Arlington community. Included in those honored was John Marshall Bank, winner of the 2013 Business of the Year Award. “John Marshall Bank has proven it meets the tough criteria for winning this coveted award,” said Rich Doud, Arlington Chamber President. “The Chamber is pleased to present this award to them, and our community is fortunate to have such a quality organization operating in Arlington.” Arlington Best Business Award recipients are nominated by the Chamber membership and chosen by a committee of past award winners. Criteria for this prestigious award are as follows:. 1. Must be a viable, on-going, full-time business, which has experienced significant growth or stability over its business life. 2. Must be well known and thought of by its customers or clients for consistently delivering exceptional quality or service. 3. Must be a leader in the industry in Arlington OR must have a significantly unique approach to delivery of its goods or services. 4. Must have displayed an interest in and concern for the Arlington community – Either corporately or through its employees backed by the company. On learning of this latest award for the six-year-old bank, Chairman & CEO John Maxwell said, “This is an incredible honor and recognition of the hard work our banking team has contributed in the Arlington Region of John Marshall Bank. Sonia Johnston, President of the Arlington Region, is very committed to Arlington, and her passion for the community shows by her involvement in great organizations like the Arlington Chamber of Commerce. SNL, one of the leading bank analysts, ranked John Marshall Bank as one of the 100 best community banks in the country. A variety of financial and growth numbers was compiled for community banks between $500 million and $5 billion in assets for 2012, with the final calculation ranking John Marshall Bank 27th in the nation.
