Follow on Google News | Committing Suicide: 3 Dirty Truths That Drives Someone To Kill Themselves That No One Talks AboutAccording to Emory University, every year, 864,950 people attempt to commit suicide, which means 1 person tried to kill themselves every 38 seconds. Why did these people not get help before they tires to kill themselves?
Dirty Truth 1 - Most people have no one to talk to about deeper issues of life. A youth that has just been raped may fear talking to an adult or peers. Out of desperation and pain this youth may attempt suicide because they see no way out of their pain. After all, who would they go to when they have that much fear? Many can go to their close friends or family, but there are just as many others that have not a single person to help them. Thus, they attempt to end their lives feeling there is no way out. Dirty Truth 2 - Few people want to reach out to help. People are so "busy" they don't get involved with other people's lives. Sadly that includes even their own family at times. A daughter of the family may have been raped and not a single family member even she is distress. Even if they do notice few families will take the time to reach out enough to find out why the child is stressed. Dirty Truth 3 - Society stigmatizes talking about feelings. Our society religiously pounds into our minds that the "strong" don't show emotions. Wake up people! Humans are emotional beings and we do have emotions. For some people, those emotions are extremely strong, yet we live in a society that says we are weak if we show emotions. So what to do people do if they encounter great stress yet society stigmatizes them for being in pain? They attempt to kill themselves. What else can they do? The Solution Now since the three dirty truths about suicide are exposed, how are we going to clean up this dirty mess? We need to change ourselves to allow others to openly express all feelings. Feelings and emotions are natural and normal to humans. It is also natural and normal to have a need to express these pinned up feelings and emotions. Letting out the emotional steam often helps reduce the urge to commit suicide. A new website has just been launched called Gabriel's Compassion. This site is designed to help people that need assistance with suicidal thoughts. It is an online anonymous support system for anyone that needs someone to be there for them in emotionally difficult times. The website's founder is a survivor of a suicide attempt and is the author of the well-known book "Gabriel's Tears". This is a free service and you are invited to come online at http://www.gabrielscompassion.org/ End
