Follow on Google News | Duncan Craig’s new book is an intelligent western set in the closing days of the frontierMilton Keynes author, Duncan Craig, is celebrating the publication of his first novel 5CAV – a western set in the dying days of the frontier.
About the Book 5CAV charts a five day period in the lives of two army officers; the humanitarian Lnt. Coster and the careerist Mjr. Jenness. Arranging quarters for stranded train passengers, juggling the roster for Officer of the Day, balancing family life with a workload that falls inevitably on the same small cadre of hard-pressed officers. For Coster and Jenness, this is the reality of life in winter garrison. But with a Shoshoni chief agitating for a change of Indian Agent, a US Army Paymaster on a tour of northern posts and the arrival at Fort Glenn of two men with a shared past, the ordered routine of winter quarters is gradually disfigured by violence and tragedy – leaving Jenness pursuing a bureaucratic lynching, and Coster offering a conflicted killer a last chance of redemption. About the Author: Duncan Craig was born in the UK, but raised in Australia. Returning to the UK, he served five years in the Territorial Army. He is inspired by writers such as Adam Hall. End
